Our Environmental Commitment

Core to our purpose is recycling for the environment, and the safety of employees and community is our top priority. Spectro has been and will continue to operate in full compliance with all regulations. There are no pending environmental enforcement actions, and our plant is operating in full compliance with our strict permit requirements. We are proud that the environmental impact of recycling at Spectro is extremely positive.  Recycling aluminum at Spectro Alloys:

•            Uses 95% less energy than primary aluminum, enough energy to power over 200,000 homes

•            Reduces greenhouse gas emissions equal to taking over 100,000 cars off the road

At Spectro, we are industry leading in terms of both our pollution control equipment and our internal processes and procedures. We will soon be completing our final audit for ISO 14001 Environmental Certification, ensuring our environmental policies and controls are recognized as world class. We have state-of-the art pollution control systems that constantly capture emissions from the recycling process. We meet and exceed all air emission standards – and Minnesota has among the most stringent in the world.  With our employees working here every day and our families living in the community, we wouldn’t have it any other way.  We are committed to you, our community, and to the bright future of the sustainable aluminum recycling industry.
