The future of aluminum recycling

EGA Spectro Alloys’ operations are efficient, sustainable, and continuously improving

Our history is rooted in the spirt of continuous improvement – of both our people and our processes. We seek innovative ways to transform post-consumer and post-industrial aluminum scrap into valuable resources. By embracing cutting-edge technologies and cleaner, more energy-efficient solutions, EGA Spectro Alloys aims to lead the way as the aluminum recycling plant of the future.

Scrap sourcing

Spectro Alloys supports the regional circular economy by providing a fair and consistent market for almost all types of aluminum scrap.

Advanced sorting

Scrap is sorted and shredded using sophisticated technology, including North America's first-of-its-kind X-ray scrap sorting plant, which employs advanced sensing to inspect and decontaminate shredded material before furnace input. Baghouses capture emissions from scrap handling, processing operations, and transfer points to further reduce airborne dust onsite.

Melting and purification

Designed to enhance efficiency and minimize waste, our high-efficiency furnaces melt the scrap aluminium, and impurities are removed to ensure the highest quality products. Our furnaces feature lime-injected baghouses that capture emissions created by the melting process. These baghouses use continuous monitoring to ensure they are operating effectively and are recognized as Best Available Control Technology for the aluminum recycling process.

Testing

Rigorous quality control procedures, including raw material and chemical analysis, multiple samplings, and metallographic analysis, ensure consistent compositions.

Casting

The molten aluminum undergoes a controlled cooling phase and is cast into standardized aluminum ingots and heavier sows. The cooled product is transferred to our distribution warehouse and packaged for transport to subsequent processing.

Our finished products

The ingots and sows are delivered to customers for remelting and subsequent use in new products people use every day in the automotive, power sports, home, turf and snow maintenance, and many other industries.

EGA Spectro Alloys is currently expanding its Rosemount plant.

The 90,000-square-foot addition will enable Spectro Alloys to expand its product offering into billet from post-consumer scrap aluminum, and add nearly 120 million pounds per year of additional recycling capacity.
